What a wild month.
Lots of music making, recording Boston-based pop-punk band Orbiter, and just got off an incredible songwriting retreat up in Rumney. Some pictures from the Retreat below; mixed recordings & videos of our songs will be available sometime after the new year.
It fills my cup to create with such lovely people. I loved the late night jams, watching shooting stars as we played with the lights off; incredible collaborations between folks who just met. Play, joy, and emotional break-throughs. And delicious food from The Nourishment Mama.
Last night I hosted a poetry night @ my friend Nallieli’s Monthly Salon. Here’s 6 favorite poems I wanted to share.

Fri-Sun Nov 23-26, Duo Performance at Earthdance Gratitude Jam – After a several year hiatus from music-making, my cousin Levi and I will reunite at Earthdance! After a handful of performances for contact improv all over New England in 2017-2018, I’m thrilled to be back at it. Levi is a sensitive and dynamic hand pan player, and brings a host of inspirations from the body’s intuitive sense of rhythm. As a longtime contact improv dancer and appreciator of the world’s musical traditions, he brings a unique flow that is a joy to play with. In the past I had played rhodes and did a little singing; he would add some colors and textures from flutes and other miscellania collected from his travels. We’ll see what it’s like now. It’s special to play with someone in my family; we hope to reignite our collaboration with some recordings in the coming seasons.
Dec 1st –SongBuilder’s Soiree – The pilot of a delicious co-creative space, where the audience is the choir – and songwriters bring their songs to fruition with an improvised band. I’ll be music directing the band and co-hosting the space, alongside my dear friend Milly Roberts – who leads Singing Circles in Boston. I am wicked excited!
Dec 2nd – Private Event in NYC – Musical Improv Comedy set at my very-funny friend’s East Village loft for her 32nd birthday. Wohoo. NYC baybee.
Dec 8-10th – 30th birthday recording weekend. I’m putting out the smoke signals and herding the cats for a delicious collaboration and somewhat improvised weekend of recording. I’ve asked a handful of folks to save the date. Thinking 7-20 musicians to DIY live-record some tunes that have been kicking around. Demos and suggestions for arrangement will be provided; weekend will be immersing ourselves in the material and pressing the red button. No overdubs. An experiment for me in building community directly around my art-making. And an exercise in receiving support
Dec 15th Authentic Relating Open Mic – 7pm Start, 6:30 doors. Suggested Donation $20. No sign ups, RSVP appreciated. Share when it’s your turn! Any performance art, or share out some visual art. Then, you’ll have a moment to dialogue with the audience around their and your experience of the performance. Inspired by “Authentic Relating”
Dec 21st Solstice Sound Journey – Musical Meditation and Journeying, Altar Creation, Journaling & Sharing. TBD on Power Animal Journey from my friend & roommate, Jessica. 6-9pm. $33-55, no one turned away for lack of funds.

Jan 27th – “Astrology of 2024 and Your Role in it. Yoga, Astrology, and Sound Journey.” Another amazing family member to collaborate with. Twink is a world class yoga teacher and astrologer. We’ll be bridging our practices: I’ll be supporting her yoga musically, we’ll both be offering mini-lectures on 2024, and creating a container for relational and contemplative astrological learning. Waitlists for 2024 retreats will be open in a few weeks! Hosting an improvisation retreat in April 19-21, and a Songwriting Retreat in May, most likely Labor Day weekend – and a few more in Summer and Fall.
